These Cinnamon Rolls are amazing and let me warn you, your house will smell like a nice little candle store. Ahhhh! And the best part is…..YOU CAN EAT EM! 😀
The recipe is simple and doesn’t take long to prep, so don’t get intimidated by the long list of ingredients.
INGREDIENTS:
For the Dough:
2 1/4 tsp Dry Yeast
3/4 cup Whole Milk
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1/4 cup warm Water
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
1 tsp of Salt
1/4 + 1/4 cup Melted Unsalted Butter
4 cups of All-Purpose Flour
For the Filling:
1/3 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp Cinnamon powder
For the Glaze:
1/4 cup Cream Cheese (room temperature)
1 Tbsp Unsalted butter (room temperature)
3/4-1 cup Powdered Sugar/ Icing Sugar
1/2 tsp of Vanilla Extract
3 to 4 Tbsp Warm Milk
NOTE:
*To activate the yeast, use only warm water and not hot water. It will end up killing the yeast.
*If using a stand mixer, use dough attachment.
*The longer you knead, the better. A soft dough is what you need. If using a mixer, put it on high for about 5 minutes.
*The filling can be altered according to your liking. You can also add choco chips with sugar if you like your chocolate.
In a small bowl, combine the warm water and 1 tsp of the granulated sugar, yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
In another bowl mix the egg, milk, salt, vanilla, the remaining sugar, and 1/4 cup melted butter. Add 2 cups of the flour, yeast mixture, mix until it’s all incorporated and add remaining flour. Knead well until you have a smooth dough.
Oil a large bowl with some oil and place the dough in. Cover with plastic wrap/ cloth and place it in a warm spot to rise for a minimum of 2-3 hours.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon for the filling, set aside. When doubled in size, take out the dough roll it out onto a floured surface into a rectangle.
Spread the soft butter over the top and sprinkle evenly over the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Starting from one of the long ends, tightly roll the dough.
Cut into equal-sized slices and place them cut side down, slightly away from each other in a well-buttered baking pan. Cover again and put them back into a warm spot to rise for another 1 hour.
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Once risen, brush them with some melted butter and bake them for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. If using a gas oven, preheat on high and bake on low till done.
For the glaze:
Mix all the ingredients of the glaze in a bowl except for the milk, once the cream cheese is all mixed, slowly add the milk until you get a runny glaze consistency.
Immediately pour the glaze over the cinnamon rolls
Top with walnuts/ pecans/ choco chips and enjoy!
