Milk Pedha

Last time I came to Kuwait, I craved for things I wouldn’t normally eat back at home in Mangalore-one of them being the famous “Doodh Pedha” a.k.a “Milk Pedha“.

Looked for recipes online, asked a few people and finally ended making amazing Pedhas at home with just 3 ingredients. Yep. You read that right.

And since today is our Republic Day, I thought let’s make some Pedhas at home. Feeling a little Patriotic. Maybe!

INGREDIENTS:IMG_3496.jpg

1 tbsp Ghee

1/2 cup Sweetened condensed milk

1 cup Milk powder

Nuts to garnish

NOTE:

*The entire process needs to be done over a low flame.

*Sugar can be used instead of condensed milk.

*You can use cardamom powder or saffron or a combination of both for Aroma.

*If the Pedha mixture drys out as a result of overcooking, add ghee to make a smooth dough.

METHOD:

Heat ghee in a nonstick pan on low heat and add the condensed milk to it, combine. Next, add your milk powder, stirring occasionally.

When the milk powder and condensed milk have come together and become a mass, remove from heat and transfer to a plate immediately. Smooth out the dough.

While still warm, Grease your palms lightly and make balls out of the dough and flatten.
