“When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade; When people give you bitter dark chocolate, you make BROWNIES”
Dense, rich and fudge-like sums up in just one word BROWNIES. I find my Eden every time I bake brownies and today after a hectic first 2 weeks of December, I thought I’ll bake this yummy treat for myself. Plus, my Darling Daughter, the light of my life, has been asking for “Cakey” for the last few days. The upshot of this is when your child asks you for cakes, you learn to excel in short and simple baking projects. My favorite brownies take a good 15 minutes to put together and symbolize everything I love in a brownie.
And just to get the extra dose of chocolaty goodness and to make my brownies sing louder, I generously apply some Nutella. Ooohhh la laaaaa! And if you aren’t a fan of Nutella ( I don’t know how you can’t be), you can totally skip this and have the brownies just the way they are. They taste amazing that way too!
The most important ingredient to make amazing brownies is unsweetened chocolate. The better the quality of chocolates, the better tasting your brownies will be. I, generally use Lindt bars to make my brownies but you could use any other brand.
P.s- My house smells amazzzzinggggggg right now.
INGREDIENTS:
125gm unsalted butter
200gms/ 1 cup brown sugar
125gms unsweetened chocolate
3 eggs
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Pinch of salt
Note:
*Melting chocolate directly over the stovetop can affect its texture. Hence, the double boiling method.
*Double Boiling Method: Bring some water to a simmer in a pot and then fit a glass or metal bowl over the top of the pot. When you do this make sure the bowl doesn’t come into contact with the water.
*Make sure the chocolate mixture isn’t boiling hot while adding eggs, as the eggs could cook because of the heat.
*Do not completely cool the chocolate mixture before adding eggs as the chocolate could solidify.
*Mix till combined; Do not over mix the batter.
*You can always add walnuts or chocolate chips to your brownie batter.
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius. Grease cake tin with butter and flour or line with baking paper
Melt butter, sugar, and chocolate using the double boiling method and combine.
Remove from heat, bring down the temperature by stirring- till warm and beat in eggs.
Stir in dry ingredients to the above mixture.
Pour into prepared tin and bake at 170 degrees for 20 minutes till you get a good crust on top and the brownie has cooked through.
Serve with Nutella, Vanilla icecream or just plain 🙂
Hope you guys enjoy these brownies as much as all of us do.
Much love,
Sadaf!
